Aromas and flavors of blackberries and blueberries with walnut and coffee-bean notes. Medium to full body, integrated tannins and a flavorful finish. Excellent, but not the 2018.

Couleur sombre, intense et belle. Nez très aromatique, fin, fruité, pur et subtil. Caressant à l'attaque, très fruité en milieu de bouche et plutôt parfumé pour un Saint-Estèphe, le vin offre une trame tannique distinguée dans la persistance. Bonne longueur.

Aromas of sweet cherries and berries mingled with tobacco, loamy soil and petals introduce the 2019 Meyney, a medium to full-bodied, seamless and lively wine with fine depth at the core, powdery tannins and an attractive sense of completeness. This is an understated but charming Saint-Estèphe that has turned out nicely in bottle.

One of the wines I use as a marker of how good the vintage is in St Estèphe, because it isn't classified but is in a brilliant location right next door to Montrose. And this is good, extremely concentrated, pure cassis and bilberry flavours, tons of tannins, clear austerity and fairly high acidity as I am getting in a lot of these 2019s. Not the same luscious character as 2018, but in many ways that makes it more typical of the appellation, and the alcohol seems less over the top than in 2018. Lots to enjoy here, not quite up to 2016 standard but not far. Tasted two weeks apart, and if anything its expression had deepened second time around. Hubert de Boüard consultant.

Elegantes Bouquet, Kräuter, Johannisbeeren, schwarze Brombeeren, zart Bitter schokolade. Gute Dichte, saftig, fein adstringierend, elegante Säure, schwarzbeerige Frucht, Brombeeren, Kakao, Johannisbeeren im Finish, gute Länge.

Le cru possède un beau volume, mais avec une extraction de la matière qui demeure élégante. Le fruit est préservé, les tanins bien intégrés. Une réussite notable.

A solid, slightly burly version, featuring streaks of tar and bay leaf mixed with dark plum and black currant preserve flavors. The finish is underscored by a warm paving stone note, which adds cut, drive and a hint of old school. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Best from 2024 through 2036.

Das Bouquet des 2019ers zeichnet sich durch seine Frische und feine fruchtige Noten aus. So viel Präzision und Eleganz! Am Gaumen offenbart sich der Wein mit Gelassenheit. Er hat seine Kraft unter Kontrolle und zeigt eine brillante Balance. Das ist sicherlich die Essenz eines großen Weins: Er soll glänzen, ohne demonstrativ zu sein, einfach ausstrahlen was er kann, und das ist der Punkt, an dem sich Meyney auszeichnet; er ist ein großer Wein. Eigentlich wissen wir das, und man sollte nicht zögern, es lauthals zu verkünden! Der 2019er fordert den grandiosen 2016er heraus… zu unserem größten Vergnügen. Wer gewinnen wird ist irrelevant, Hauptsache ist: man hat ein Paar Kisten davon im Keller.
