Château Maucaillou est l'un des rares crus Bourgeois à avoir été admis dans le cercle très fermé de l'Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux.
Blackcurrant, clove, pine-needle, dark-chocolate and graphite aromas. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, ripe and creamy tannins. Excellent depth of fruit. Juicy finish. Try from 2023.
«Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Maucaillou bursts from the glass with notions of plum preserves, baked blueberries and blackcurrant cordial with underlying violets and licorice scents plus a touch of forest floor. Full-bodied, firm and chewy in the mouth, it is packed with earth-laced muscular fruit and finishes just a little firm.»
Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Zartes Nougat, süßes Waldbeerkonfit, kandierte Orangenzesten, mineralischer Anklang. Mittlerer Körper, straff, engmaschig, feines Cassis, tragende Tannine, schokoladiger Touch im Abgang, gutes Entwicklungspotenzial.
Blueberry, liquorice, slate, baked earth and black pepper spice, there is plenty of personality in this Maucaillou, with a firm tannic grip. Things dry a little on the finish, as I have found in a number of wines in the vintage, but this will soften with a few more years in bottle (suggest three to four), and has clear appeal.
