Château Maucaillou est l'un des rares crus Bourgeois à avoir été admis dans le cercle très fermé de l'Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux.
The 2016 Maucaillou has a well-defined, tertiary, sous-bois scented bouquet that unfolds in the glass but resolutely remains classic in style, revealing pleasant tobacco scents with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a bit of new oak showing its hand on the entry.
Here we are stepping up a gear. Tender ripe berry fruits and a swirl of spice from the oak without being overly sweet. The tannins have a pliable sense to them, you can feel the juice squeezing right on through. Planted to 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot.
